HealthyPlant ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect when you use the HealthyPlant iOS app, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data.
By using HealthyPlant, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
2. Data We Collect
Account information
You can use HealthyPlant without creating an account. If you choose to sign in with Google, we receive your email address and display name.
Plant profiles
Plant names, types, photos, age, height, and the care recommendations we generate for them.
Gardener profile
Optional: a display name, bio, experience level, and avatar photo. You choose whether your profile is public or private.
Calendar events
Care tasks (watering, sunlight, harvest reminders) generated for your plants.
Chat messages
Conversations with the AI assistant, stored to maintain your conversation history.
Sensor readings
If you connect a soil sensor, we store its readings (moisture, temperature, humidity, and light) over time.
Notifications
A device identifier used to send you care reminders and community updates. You can disable notifications in your phone's Settings at any time.
Usage data
Counts of AI feature usage to maintain fair access for all users. Not used for profiling or advertising.
3. How We Use Your Data
- To provide the app's features — plant profiles, calendar, AI assistant, and community
- To generate personalized plant care recommendations
- To send care reminders and community notifications (with your permission)
- To display your profile and shared plants to other users (only if you enable public mode)
We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising.
4. Third-Party Services
HealthyPlant relies on trusted third-party services to operate. Each is bound by its own privacy policy:
- Google — account sign-in, data storage, push notifications, and cloud infrastructure. Google's Privacy Policy.
- Google Gemini AI — plant image identification. Photos you scan are sent to Google's AI for processing and are not retained after the request completes.
- Anthropic — AI assistant and care recommendations. Your plant data and messages are sent to Anthropic's AI during requests. Anthropic does not use API inputs to train its models.
5. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored securely in the United States. All communication between the app and our servers is encrypted. Only authenticated users can access their own data.
If you use the app without signing in and later uninstall it, your data will be automatically deleted after 90 days of inactivity.
6. Data Sharing
We share your data only in the following limited circumstances:
- With the third-party services listed in Section 4, solely to operate the app
- If you enable a public profile, your display name, bio, experience level, and shared plants are visible to other HealthyPlant users
- If required by law or to protect our legal rights
We never sell your personal data.
7. Your Rights and Choices
- Access: You can view all your plant profiles, chat history, and sensor data within the app.
- Deletion: To delete your account and all associated data, email support@healthyplant.app with the subject "Delete my account". We will process your request within 30 days.
- Notifications: You can disable push notifications at any time in iOS Settings → HealthyPlant → Notifications.
- Public profile: You can make your profile private at any time in Settings → Edit Gardener Profile.
8. Children's Privacy
HealthyPlant is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@healthyplant.app.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy on this page with a new effective date. For significant changes, we will notify you via push notification or in-app message.
